GhostReader

AssistiveWare(R) / ConvenienceWare(tm) today announced the release of GhostReader(tm) text-to-speech software for Mac OS X.

GhostReader is the new name (it used to be called TextParrot) for a multilingual text to speech solution for Mac OS X that allows you to listen to your documents with naturally sounding voices in a language of choice. Just like a ghostwriter writes for someone else, GhostReader can read for you!

ATMac Comment: GhostReader is not designed for people with vision or reading impairments. It sounds like it would be useful for people who are able to read but tire quickly doing it. For others in the “gap” with low vision but not enough to need VoiceOver, the same company offers VisioVoice which has all the functions of GhostReader and much more.
