Interesting Day
I had a visit from one of the occupational therapists from Yooralla ComTEC today to trial some new assistive tech hardware. I have been having trouble with fatigue while using the trackpad I drive the mouse pointer with, so David brought several mouse alternatives for me to trial.
I tried a bunch of devices including a CRUISE adapted trackpad, a SmartNav 4, and several different joysticks. David knows I’m a tech geek so he also brought an eyegaze system for me to briefly play with! Unfortunately it didn’t like my eyes and insisted I only had one, and by that time I was too fatigued to persist enough to get it working properly.
The CRUISE seems like the best option just now, so I have one to trial for a week to see how it goes. It’s going to take some getting used to, but that’s always the case for odd new hardware. Wish me luck!

Hi Ricky,
The Cruise Trackpad has been a winner for me. I have 2 students that are purchasing them right now after successful trials this spring. I like the way it allows you to rest your hand and just use a finger. I am glad you are using it. Good luck with that.
Also - I did a post today on nolimitstolearning.blogspot.com on redzee - a visual search engine. I shared about the modbook - mac tablet that would allow you to use a finger to open web pages in a search result format. I would love to hear what you have to say on OSX on a Tablet. I hear Apple might be coming out with their own. I am not suggesting you should use this set up, but it would be interesting to hear your point of view.
Take care,
Lon
