Fins-Up has announced the availability of the FIN for Macbook and Macbook Pro customers. The FIN is an aluminium stand which screws into existing holes in the bottom of your Macbook and acts as a laptop stand to bring the keyboard to a more ergonomic angle. It also acts as a handle when you’re carrying your Macbook, and the aluminium stand helps dissipate heat so your laptop runs without overheating.

The FIN attaches simply and boasts equally easy removal. When installed, the FIN tilts the MacBook to a perfect ergonomic angle for typing and screen viewing. The FIN also serves as a convenient handle that not only makes carrying the computer easier, but much safer by providing the user with an area for a firm grip, thereby helping prevent drops that can either severally damage or altogether destroy the computer. The FIN also aides with insertion and retrieval of the computer from carry and tote bags, and when installed the FIN assists with the dissipation of processor-generated heat, increasing product longevity in the process.
It seems that the “handle” aspect of the FIN could be especially helpful for Macbook users who have trouble with dexterity, gripping, or vision. Dropping a laptop can have disastrous consequences, and anything that helps you to avoid it is a good thing!

I have a macbook (air) and this invention looks awesome! I have noticed that my macbook gets very hot after long use. Almost so hot that you would burn yourself.
This was a great invention and many thanks for the heads up.. I think I will go and buy one of these FIN right away!

I also have macbook and it truly heats up whenever I use it for a long time, sometimes I use cd cases just to lift it up from the table so the air can flow from below. I think I should grab one of these, I don’t want my macbook to break

I’ve been using the FIN for my mac pro for the last couple months, I have to say that I do love it no more wrist pain. I hope in the future apple learns something from this and sells them with FINs. What really be cool is a FIN that is adjustable in height.

I like the Laptop Flip for my Macbook. It stores my Macbook in the vertical position and has a ledge to raise it for better ventilation when I am using it.
