MacWorld online magazine posted a great hint about horizontal scrolling for older mice and pointing devices which offer vertical scrolling but not horizontal scrolling – hold down the shift key while you use the vertical scroll function to scroll horizontally instead.
In my experiments with my trackpad, which offers vertical but not horizontal scrolling, shift+scroll up scrolled to the left, shift+scroll down scrolled to the right, and it worked in almost every application I tried.

I have a bluetooth wireless mouse — the older one (A1015). I know that one can right-click by holding down CTRL and clicking. Is there a similar command function for scrolling? That is, can I hold down a key, move my mouse, and scroll?
