iPrompts is an iPod Touch/iPhone program which offers visual prompting tools including a visual schedule, a visual countdown timer and a simple visual choice making function. It’s designed to be used by people with developmental disorders and language impairments such as people with Autism, Down’s Syndrome, and Fragile X. iPrompts currently sells for US$49.99 at the iTunes Store.
Kate from Teaching Learners With Multiple Special Needs wrote a comprehensive review of the iPrompts application back in May 2009:
In summary, this is a very expensive app for what it offers that is buggy, not terribly customizable and meets very limited needs. However it might be perfect for some individuals who just need those basic picture schedules and simple visual, horizontal two choice options.
Please also read the comments following her post – several improvements to the program and a price reduction have occurred since she wrote the post.
