iSoftPhone - phone and SMS on your Mac

iSoftPhone IconiSoftPhone lets you make and receive telephone calls on your Mac if you use a VoIP service. VoIP services make telephone calls using your internet connection, so you need a solid net connection for it to function well but they’re usually a lot cheaper than using a stardard telephone service. Vonage in the USA is one popular VoIP service; Gizmo Project is another and is available internationally.

A new version of iSoftPhone has been released - it now now supports SMS messages as well as voice calls and is integrated with the OS X address boox. iSoftPhone will also use Growl notifications if they are available.

For those with physical limitations which make using a traditional phone difficult, VoIP software can be a great help because it allows you to use the accessibility technology already available on your computer.
