Unusually Creative Stands for iPhone/iPod Touch

An iPhoneEileen over at the brilliantly named "Blogging About AT is Not Procrastinating" blog, has been out shopping and accidentally bought not one but four things she's figured out make great iPod Touch or iPhone stands. The amazing part is that every one of them cost her less than eight dollars! Here's just one of her creative ideas:

You can go check out Eileen's other cheap, easy and creative ways to position and iPod Touch/iPhone, and I also recommend the rest of her blog. I wasn't aware of it until recently but it's been added to my "read this" list now and I'll be checking it regularly as Eileen has good things to say.

And over at Dessinemoiunobject they have a post on making an iPhone/iTouch stand/dock out of paper, complete with a PDF of the pattern ready to print out onto A4 or US Letter size paper. Having taken a look at it, I think you would need to use some medium thickness cardboard to actually make a usable stand - all their pictures showing the stand in use are made of cardboard. It's a fantastic idea though, and easy to make. Here's a video showing how:

When I'm not using it, I keep my own iPod Touch in half a plastic envelope that's taped to the side of my hospital bed like a holster. I started off using a paper envelope but after a month or so it ripped from being used so much, so I made a duplicate using a sheet of plastic designed for an overhead projector. It's held together, and held to the bed, by duct tape; that stuff really does make the world go around!

Of course some people have positioning requirements that do require expensive and specialised positioning equipment, but for many of us there are creative solutions that can save a lot of money and hassle.

So how do you position your iPod Touch or iPhone?
