Weekend Round-Up: MacSpeech, MacHeist, Taking Control, and more

ATMac Logo
There’s a new release of MacSpeech Dictate available. It’s primarily a bug-fix release, with the addition of a preference control for document caching that should make it easier to do voice editing of documents in MS Word and TextEdit.
MacHeist is known for giving away software and selling cheap software bundles. Right now their “NanoHeist” is open and you can pick up licenses for six software products for free! Dash on over to MacHeist and sign up to claim yours.
[Edited to add: In response to the MacHeist giveaway, more than 20 other Mac developers are participating in the One Finger Discount which will give you 20% off any of their software that you purchase this week. It's a good week for cheap software!]
ATMac is now an affiliate for the Take Control Books. This means you can buy the books through the links our site and a percentage of the price comes back to ATMac to help support the site and help support me, and doesn’t cost you a cent more to buy the books via ATMac’s links.
All of the Take Control books can be purchased as fully accessible PDF format ebooks appropriate for reading on-screen, or if you prefer print books those are available for most titles too. You can view the full Take Control catalog, including several MacWorld books as well as the highly regarded Take Control titles. We’ll be recommending appropriate titles to complement our articles occasionally, too.
Maccessibility have been doing some good reporting on the accessibility features in recent Apple updates, including reporting on accessibility enhancements in iPod/iPhone OS 3.1.
Somebody else has written about creating a “button” area on the buttonless multi-touch trackpad, which was causing problems and unintended button clicks. It’s a great creative solution to the problem! Have you solved any accessibility problems lately?

If you are going to buy or upgrade any version of MacSpeech Dictate from the USA or UK.
stores, please consider using these links in this article. If you do, I'll get a commission - a small percentage of the sale price. It won't cost you anything and it will help to support me and ATMac.
